I carried on being offended for quite a while but then I thought maybe I was being a bit harsh. None of the Presidential candidates or Vice Presidential candidates are actually that pro-gay (although Obama is doing a pretty good impression at the moment..). I decided to give her a bit of a chance.

Well she’s had that chance and she’s failed with the words

“Being Gay A Choice, But I Don’t Judge.”

So Sarah Palin, you believe people choose to be gay. You really believe that there are millions of people across the world who see the homophobia they’d face when they “choose” to be gay and go

“Oh yes I just can’t wait to be misunderstood, judged and criticised…”

Well that makes me feel really positive about having you as the Vice President of the most powerful country in the word…

Now I can only speak for myself (although many people would tell I’m happy to speak for just about anyone) but I’m one lesbian exception. Gay man porn does nothing for me.

Even if you feel the same the Lesbilicious is still worth a read because it actually raises some interesting points and reasonings why this trends seems to be occurring.

The one that made me exclaim a big “YESSSS” (no, not like that, you’re got such a dirty mind…) was about the differences between gay mens and lesbians porn on the market.

It’s authencity.

Gay men porn is real. It’s gay men getting it on.

Lesbian porn. Well the likelihood of that being real is zero to none. That’s going to be porn between two straight women who well are just too straight to do it for anyone…

It’s a really interesting point and one I personally hadn’t ever thought about and indicates there’s a bit of a niche in the market for some real lesbian porn. Anyone ready to take up this niche….

“Your Mum is a lesbian”

Both me and the soon to be Mrs Me went a bit quiet. What was going to happen. Was this going to turn into a difficult situation where the girl ran home hating her gay Mum for making life difficult?

No.

This young girl, very self assured said

“What, you’ve only just noticed???”

And happily went on playing…

Just how it should be, don’t you agree!

This, therefore left with some time to think, reflect, not be able to look up anything online (the break indicated to me I have something of an internet addiction..) and get down to watching the recently bought L Word Season 4 on DVD.

We’d gone away with the other half’s parents, her sister and her husband, their child and the husband’s mother (I know how brave was I..). Now all of these people were very nice BUT not the kind of people into watching the L Word which left us with a predicament. Do we be anti-social and not spend the evenings with them and watch the L Word or do the right thing..

Being the nice people we are we did the right thing… and then snuck upstairs to watch the L Word.

It was a plan that worked so well until the second episode on the second disc. Would it play? Well yes it would.

Would it play without stopping every five milliseconds and covering the screen in lines? No.

I know, you can’t believe it’s happened, it’s something that only happens in nightmares. The L Word was broken…

Now I’m back home and the L Word and I have split. It’s gone back to Amazon and I’m waiting for a replacement but it’s never going to be the same. There just won’t be that love and tenderness that me and the first L Word boxset had.

The L Word disc was broken and we were stranded with no L Word to watch..

I just noticed over at Lesbilicious that Harriet Harmann has announced at the TUC that lesbian MP, Angela Eagle, is to tie the knot with her partner Maria Exall.

It seems that Angela was a tad surprised that Harriet Harmann had decided to make sure announcement which has made me quite glad that I haven’t let Harriet know about me and L getting hitched, I can just see her telling everyone in the middle of Prime Minister’s questions!

Seriously I do want to pass on my congratulations to Angela and Maria and I wonder hlow long, seeing how our political parties like to copy each other that David Cameron will announce that Margot James and Jay Hunt are getting hitched.. (although he obviously will have to convince them too first..)

I Kissed A Girl by Kate Perry has become one of the most talked about songs this year because of it’s title and what implies.

And what is it that it’s implying? Well that would be that girls do kiss other girls. I know you might need some time for that to sink it. Apparently girls do kiss other girls and well I’m going to have to own up to the fact that I am indeed one of them.

So what do I think of all the furore about this song?

Well my first thought is that it’s quite sad that this song is getting so much attention because I personally don’t think it’s very good. It is a pretty formulaic song that’s been written to a catchy tune that will grab people’s attention and then sprinked with some lyrics that have been written to get it attention and that’s exactly what’s happened.

I also don’t think it should be getting the attention it is for gay blogs and commentators (and I know how contrived that is because I’m writing about it) because this song isn’t about being gay, it’s not even being about bisexual it’s about one of those annoying girls who does it to get attention.

But that’s just me. What do you think? Has Kate Perry become the god you worshipped or the person who makes you cover your ears each times she’s played?

So the secret is finally out. The L Word spin off series is going to feature Alice, a choice that has left L word bloggers split.

Personally I really like Leisha Hailey and think she’s a great actress but ( you could hear that coming couldn’t you) I’m not sure how much longevity a series has based purely around Alice. I can’t deny that there’s been some very strong and serious acting by Leisha concerning stories with her and Tasha and Dana’s illness and death but the character has always been the one that bought a bit of comedy into the series.

And that’s what worries me. Joey was the comedy figure in Friends which was balanced out perfectly by the others in the group until it ended.

Then he got his own show. A show that is horribly unfunny and well really shouldn’t have been made.

Maybe I’m being overcautious though. The pilot is being written by Ilene Chaiken ,who is unlikely to lose her amazing writing skills over night, and Leisha Hailey is also unlikely to forget what good acting is so we could be alright just as long as it doesn’t try to become something too distant from what the L Word is already.

But that’s just my thoughts. What do you think? Good decision? Bad decision? Not sure?

If you’re visiting the Gay Friendly website as a repeat visitor then you’ll have noticed the site is looking a bit empty.

Okay empty. In fact the Gay Friendly of old has left and a new fresh Gay Friendly has moved in.

Why The Change To Gay Friendly?

Well to put it simply I wasn’t enjoying writing for the site anymore.

When I first set up the Gay Friendly site of old it was focused on providing reviews and news of products that the gay community would be interested in.

This was alright for a while and lead me to discover a huge amount of products and shops I didn’t know existed but there was a problem.

I’m a gay rights girl at heart. I love a good debate. I love hearing about fights against adversity and I’m passionate about speaking out about wrongs against the gay community but the site I had didn’t allow me anyway to voice it or get a discussion going with all of you.

So I made a decision. I would pull down the Gay Friendly blog and start again with the focus being on my passion - gay rights and discussion.

So I did and here it is. As you can see I’ve turned this from a gay shopping site into something more holistic and covers all areas of our life.

And guess what.

I just can’t wait to start rambling.

I’m hoping you’re looking forward to rambling right back at me!
